Royal awards for our founder Harry de Vries
At the so called ‘rain of royal awards’ of 2023 Njokuti-founder Harry de Vries was rewarded to become a member of the Order of Oranje-Nassau.
He obviously received this Royal Award for his volunteer work for Njokuti Foundation, where, as an orthopedic surgeon, he has been going on working visits to Tanzania and Uganda for more than 20 years. He regularly takes doctors with him who have no experience in Africa, so that his knowledge is passed on to both Dutch doctors and local doctors in Tanzania and Uganda. In an approachable manner and with a lot of humor, he always knows how to put everyone at ease and is genuinely interested in everyone he meets. No wonder teams in Tanzania and Uganda would like to see him come again! We are very grateful to him for that! Harry was also active for 12 years in the Orange Association of his former hometown Herwijnen, where he organized the annual car puzzle tour. He also worked as a volunteer at the Heroes4life Foundation, a foundation that aims to support chronically ill children. And finally, he was also chairman of the gymnastics club Olympia; and of the football club Herovina from Herwijnen for several years.
