From June 5th to july 3^rd 2019, orthopaedic surgeon  Julius Abonga visited a Dutch hospital (the “Groene Hart Hospital”) in Gouda to do an orthopaedic tour. Julius works as an orthopaedic surgeon in Kitgum, Uganda in a regional hospital already frequently visited by our orthopaedic surgeons from Njokuti foundation.

After having survived all the mandatory tests (e.g. MRSA) Julius could start participating as part of the orthopaedic team. Mainly visiting the orthopaedic theatre, Julius experienced the Dutch way of dealing with a great variety of orthopaedic problems.

Off course, the social part was not forgotten and Julius went, accompanied by the orthopaedic surgeons (and their families) from Gouda, to several Dutch cities including Amsterdam, The Hague, Leiden and Utrecht.

After 4 weeks of an intense and fulfilling orthopaedic training program, Julius went back to his family. “I have learned a lot and I am sure that this will help me working as an orthopaedic surgeon in Kitgum” Julius said when leaving Gouda and “thank you Njokuti foundation for giving me this opportunity!”.
